Seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our growing organization as a Grant/ RFP Writer. As a Grant/ RFP Writer, you will be expected to draft marketing and advertising RFP’s and Grant Opportunities on behalf of CSC from various government departments, foundations, and other agencies. Before drafting a proposal, the Grant/ RFP Writer is expected to research the grant opportunities to determine the eligibility criteria and identify grants that are worth pursuing. They will be working in tandem with other staff members across CSC. The Grant/ RFP Writer will oversee the RFP and Grant cycle from inception to award. The Grant Writer will also follow up on a proposal and responds to various queries.
Main Responsibilities:
Search potential funding organizations and identify possible grant opportunities for all Urban One markets.
Gathers RFP’s and Grants information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.
Work with Legal Department to determine RFP/ Grant risk or eligibility.
Develops proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives, outcomes, deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.
Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
Organize regular grant meetings to discuss updates, issues and recommendations.
Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.
Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.
Monitor and track submitted, pending and on-going proposals.
Interact with funding organizations regarding status of grant applications.
Build positive relationship with existing and potential funding sources.
Maintain complete records of past and current proposals.
Obtains approvals by reviewing proposal with key providers and sales management.
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Qualifications:
The ideal Grant/ RFP Writer candidate will possess excellent research and communication skills. They should be able to clearly communicate in both written and verbal communication, especially in Grant/ RFP opportunities, as this is their primary duty. The Grant/RFP Writer must also possess the below skills and qualifications:
A minimum of Three to Five (3 - 5) years’ experience in grant writing.
Excellent knowledge of the grant/ proposal submission process.
Ability to understand the needs of both Urban One and the organization that is offering the grant money.
Being able to understand and execute complex instructions.
Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources.
Excellent Multitasking, organizational and time management skills.
Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity.
Excellent Microsoft Office and computer skills.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Extensive knowledge of Grant and Procurement process.
Education and/ or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 3- 5 years of experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
Excellent Research skills.
